First off its been a while since my last post, I guess recessionary January times are here. So over next month or so I will try to maintain a healthy mix between my own recipes and restaurant reviews.
On Thursday night of last week I decided to go to Ciao Bella Roma at the bottom of Parliament Street in Dublin. It was recommended to me by a number of people I work with. When I arrived I noted, all the staff were Italian, which is a major plus and not to mention the whole front section of the restaurant was full of Italians eating good Italian food. We were seated and given our menus, the menu happened to be the early bird as we had just got there before 6. Was delighted with this as money is scarce at the moment and I had planned on maybe spending 20 euro that night. The early bird was priced at 8.95, for this you got a Starter , Mains and glass of House Wine. I decided to go for Bruschetta and a Cotto Pizza ( Cotto is Italian ham) The bruschetta was very tasty , tomatoes were slightly floury which meant you needed to use salt, this was the only slight with the dish.
Then came the pizza, a nice large pizza, thin base and one of those good Italian pizzas you can roll or fold, the real deal the pizza's are in Ciao Bella. Really enjoyed both dishes and also the wine was very nice for a house wine, had small vinegary edge to it, but with Italian wines I find that good as it cuts through the stodge of Pasta and Pizza. Will be definately going here again. Finally its worth noting the service is a bit brusque along with the staff so beware of this.
