Belfast Christmas Market - Poffertjes Heaven
With my mum visiting in Dublin I decided to take her up to Belfast for the day. She had only been once before and that was 2 years ago on a extremely wet winter day. This morning however the weather was cracking, it was a crisp cold morning. We arrived around 11am and went straight to the Christmas market, I was there primarily to see what I could scoff on and what pictures I could take with my lovely new camera lovelygirliebits gave me for looking after Bailey her dog whilst herself, Joanne and their mum were in New York shopping till they drop.
My new camera which I LOVE
Having been to a couple of the Christmas markets I was hoping for one thing and one thing only "PLEASE LET THERE BE DUTCH FOOD". Belfast obliged ! there was plenty of Dutch food on this display and nothing could have made me and my mum more happier to see these babies being prepared.
Poffertjes oh yes! and as my dad would say Hartstikke Leuk or as the Hairy Bikers say MEGA Lekker. These are little pancakes or puffs of yumminess, drenched in a thick blackstrap molasses called Stroop in the Netherlands. Heaven! My mum maybe a picky eater but she loves her Dutch pancakes. Suitably filled with Poffertjes we strolled around the market with me taking photos like a tourist thinking damn it I wish I brought more money with me so many lovely things on show of which you will see later on. I was also delighted to pick me up a Garlic plate off of a chap who was over form s'Hertogendenbosch in the Netherlands. Between me, my mum and himself we had a great chat talking about my dad and how much we love Dutch food. Belfast Christmas market is a cut above the Dublin ones I have experienced and even the Manchester one for that matter, I absolutely love it and Belfast is such a great place to go nowadays, we had a fantastic day up there shopping too in the Victoria and Castlecourt shopping centres.

Now please if you get a chance to go to Belfast over next two weeks go! I am really trying to stop myself going with Joanne this weekend, I want to go alone for Poffertjes and Marzipan.
