Chocolate Orange Marble Shortbread


This chocolate marble shortbread is a lovely little biscuit to eat with a coffee or tea and is so easy to make. Its one of those biscuits you want to eat a box full of, not to mention scoffing down the sweet dough off cuts before popping them in the oven. 

Ingredients: (Makes 18)

Orange Dough:

160g Plain flour
100g Butter
50g Caster sugar
2 tsp of orange zest
1 Large egg yolk

Chocolate Dough:

140g Plain flour
20g Cocoa powder
100g Butter
50g Caster Sugar
1 Large egg yolk

Method:

1) For the orange dough, in a food processor blitz your flour and butter together till it resembles bread crumbs. Add in the sugar, orange zest and egg yolk. Blitz again until  dough forms.
2) Tip out the dough on a cling film sheet and bring together in to a dough. Chill whilst making the chocolate dough.
3) Repeat step 1 and 2 for your chocolate dough.
4) Remove orange dough from the fridge and roll out on a floured surface to 30cm in length by 10cm in width. Be careful here as the dough is quite delicate and breaks easy.
5) Roll out chocolate dough the same way as orange dough in the step before.
6) Place the chocolate dough on top of the orange dough, and very carefully roll up in to a sausage shape. As you do this squeeze it to ensure you have an even roll. Wrap in tin foil and chill for 1 hour.
7) Pre heat your oven 10 mins before the dough is ready at 180c/170c fan.
8) Remove your dough from the fridge and cut in to slices about 1/2 inch thick.


9) Cook your biscuits for 20 mins until golden brown, remove from the oven and enjoy!
